

In comparison with each other the first initial differences between the two newspapers is that one newspaper is a tabloid and the other is displayed as a broadsheet. In a tabloid, the audience is targeted at a much younger generation than a broadsheet's target audience. The audiences use the media to fid out information about what is occurring in the world day by day. A tabloid uses much more colloquial language, whereas a broadsheet uses more standard and formal English Language. A tabloid refers to soft news and a broadsheet refers to hard news. Tabloid's are very biased to which ever political side is winning, however broadsheet newspapers focus more on politics in general and the economy. Both newspapers have a byline as well as visual images and captions but there are positioned in different places on each newspaper and tabloid images are more bold and enlarged. The Telegraph newspaper in a category 'group A' therefore it means it is for the upper middle class and is a centre right newspaper. The Sun is in the category 'group D' so it is aimed at the working class additionally it is a right wing newspaper (the guardian is left wing and the daily mail is right wing). A tabloid newspaper dumbs down their standard of language, the editor does this so it is much easier to read or quickly glance at. Mainly tabloid newspapers use an ellipsis which refers to missing out a word or words in a sentence, this is very common in newspaper headlines. In a broadsheet newspaper the standard of written language is to a much higher quality. Traditionally, a tabloid contains a larger headline and less copy, unlike a broadsheet which contains a large quantity of copy. The images on both newspapers ave been cropped, the editor has done this to fit the images in with the headlines and the copies so that they all fit on the front page. The Sun newspaper as well as other tabloids use hyperbole which is an exaggeration of words. Hyperbole is used as emphasis on the top stories in newspapers therefore they stand out to the audience more and are much more memorable.
